We recently got called out to a Western Star with a Detroit DD13 lighting up the dash with check engine codes.

It’s easy to look at a code and immediately order a new sensor. But that’s not how we operate. Using experience to filter through the noise, I pinpointed the priority code and ran live parameters on the throttle position.

The red flag: The computer position didn’t match the actual position.
Instead of assuming the sensor was bad and wasting the customer’s money on a replacement, I dug deeper. The culprit? The harness plug voltage was out of spec.
The Fix:
• Repaired the harness plug.
• Verified voltage was back in spec.
• Reconnected and saw immediate improvement in live data.
• Confirmed the repair with a test drive and a full complementary check of aftertreatment temps.

Real diagnostics mean finding the root cause, not just treating symptoms. It’s not always an expensive part—sometimes, you just need a tech with the experience to know where to look. 👏

On this call we were told a group from out of town were on a trip to Niagara and the exhaust was hanging off their tour bus.
On arrival we seen that the entire tail pipe from the mid pipe was hanging by one of the last hangers.
We cut the damaged exhaust pipe sections clean then installed a step clamp and new hangers, repairing this 100% so that they could continue their trip and make it hours home safe.

Called out for a no start
-Diagnosed bad starter
-Removed starter but top bolt was seized, had to remove everything on top of starter to get access (fuel lines, ecm, wiring etc)
-Used some heat on the bolt and out it came
- found a bunch of botched wiring, repaired all@wiring
- installed new starter & everything else

Pro Tip: When you see flashing lights on the side of the highway, do your best to safely move over, and if you absolutely can’t , just coast by, no harsh braking/acceleration
